THE INDIAN LUNACY (PUNJAB AMENDMENT) ACT, 1956 [Act No. 37 of 1956] [17th October, 1956] PREAMBLE An Act on amend the Indian Lunacy Act, 1912 (Act IV of 1912), in its application to the State of Punjab. Be it enacted by the Legislature of the State of Punjab in the Seventh Year of the Republic of India as follows : Section 1 - Short title This Act may be called the Indian Lunacy (Punjab Amendment) Act, 1956. Section 2 - Insertion of section 89-C in Act IV of 1912 After section 89-B of the Indian Lunacy Act, 1912 (IV of 1912), the following new section shall be inserted, namely:- 89-C. Exemption of cost of maintenance.-- Notwithstanding any other provision of this Act, the State Government may, by rules prescribed, authorize the reception, detention or treatment of any lunatic who is unable or becomes unable to meet his cost of maintenance in any asylum. |
